BILLY MOYER SWEEPS LABOR DAY WEEKEND!!!
The trio of events for the #21 team concluded on Sunday, August 31 at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. Getting some valuable track time for the 'World 100,' Billy won his heat race before dominating the inaugural 25-lap 'Baltes Classic.' He finished ahead of Matt Miller, Aaron Scott, Greg Johnson, and Chad Ruhlman in the $3,000 to win American Late Model Series (ALMS) sanctioned event. BMR IN ACTION AT PADUCAH & PEVELY... August 25 --- Billy Moyer and his #21 Dirt Late Model team trekked to the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the Show-Me State of Missouri over the August 22-23 weekend for a pair of MARS and UMP DIRTcar Series co-sanctioned races. On Friday night, the Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, Kentucky played host to the annual 'World 50,' which paid $5,000 to the winner. After winning the B-Main to advance into the feature event, Billy wound up twentieth in the final rundown of the 'World 50.' The action then turned to the I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Missouri on Saturday evening for yet another $5,000 to win show. Billy ran second in his heat race, which earned him the inside fourth row starting spot for the A-Main. During the course of the feature at the St. Louis area venue, the driver known as "Mr. Smooth" advanced four positions en route to a third place performance behind winner Dennis Erb and runner-up Terry Phillips. BILLY MOYER COMPETES IN 'TOPLESS 100' AT BATESVILLE...
The driver known as "Mr. Smooth" rolled off from the inside of the sixth row for the 100-lap main event, which was taped for the first time by the SPEED Channel cameras. Billy did not have much luck at his hometown venue, as a flat Hoosier tire helped relegate him to an eighteenth place performance in the crown jewel event. MOYER TWELFTH IN 'NORTH/SOUTH 100' AT FLORENCE... August 11 --- Billy Moyer and his famed #21 Dirt Late Model team invaded the Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky over the August 8-9 weekend for the annual 'North/South 100.' The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned the mega-event, which boasted a $50,000 top prize. Billy laid down the fastest lap in his group during time trials on Friday night, August 8. When the action resumed at the Cincinnati area venue on Saturday, Billy ran fourth in his heat race prior to winning his B-Main. After rolling off from the inside of the tenth row for the 100-lap main event, the driver known as "Mr. Smooth" was able to advance seven positions en route to a respectable twelfth place performance. 1 --- If the Billy Moyer Racing team was looking for
any type of momentum heading into the upcoming 'World 100,' they found
it over the Labor Day holiday weekend! Billy Moyer racked up his sixteenth,
seventeenth, and eighteenth feature wins of '08 from August 29-31 at
three different venues in Illinois and Ohio. In all, the Batesville,
Arkansas native pocketed $18,000 for his efforts, along with picking
up a ton of momentum heading into his quest for his sixth globe trophy.
Billy's
tripleheader weekend kicked off on Friday night, August 29 at the Farmer
City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois. He set fast time in qualifying,
won his heat race, and later outdueled Jason Feger, Brian Shirley, Jimmy
Mars, and Eric Smith to record the $5,000 top prize in the 'Farmer City
50.' A night later, the driver known as "Mr. Smooth" once
again set fast time and won his heat race at the Fairbury American Legion
Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois. During the course of the $10,000 to
win 'Prairie Dirt Classic,' Billy held his competitors at bay and picked
up the victory ahead of Dennis Erb, Don O'Neal, Eric Smith, and Wes
Steidinger.
August
18 --- The Billy Moyer Racing team traveled to the nearby
Batesville Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas last weekend for the annual
running of the 'Topless 100.' This year's version of the topless spectacular
was cut short to a one-day, $25,000 to win show on Saturday, August
16 after Mother Nature cancelled the dirt-slinging action on Friday.
When the action finally heated up at Batesville on Saturday, Billy Moyer
laid down the fastest lap in his group during Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt
Series qualifying and later finished second in his competitive heat
race.
