REACHES 100 CAREER SUMMER NATIONALS WIN MARK!!!
18, 2018 --- Dirt Late
Model Hall of Famer Billy Moyer added another huge accomplishment
to his illustrious resume last week, as he claimed his 100th career
UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals victory! Last Wednesday, July 11 at
Thunderbird Raceway in Muskegon, Michigan, Billy knocked down the
fastest lap overall during time trials to earn Fast Time honors
prior to picking up the heat race victory. After drawing the pole
position and leading the first circuit in the 40-lap headliner,
the popular driver known as "Mr. Smooth" then regained
the point on lap 32 when leader Brian Shirley went up in smoke.
Billy then led the remainder of the feature distance to bag the
$5,000 top prize over Frank Heckenast, Jr., Nick Kurtz, Rich Neiser,
and Rusty Schlenk! (Jim DenHamer Photo)
"I'm not a huge goal guy or someone that really worries a
lot about statistics, but a hundred races is a lot of races to win
on this Summer Nationals deal," quoted Moyer in a DirtonDirt.com
interview following his milestone triumph. "I never dreamed
way back when I started racing that we could ever do that. I just
have to thank everyone that has ever helped me throughout my career
- my parents, my family, all the great sponsors I've had over the
years, and of course all of my crew help. All of those people helped
in a big way in getting me to where I'm at today and I can't thank
The Batesville, Arkansas superstar, who now has 832 career feature
wins to his credit, followed the "Hell Tour" from July
10-14 for the final five nights of the Summer Nationals grind through
the states of Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. In addition to the win
at Thunderbird, Billy racked up three additional top five performances
and finished inside of the top ten each time he unloaded last week.
On Thursday, July 12 at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan,
Billy almost grabbed his 101st career tour win, as he led most of
the 40-lap 'Dan Salay Memorial' before finishing a strong runner-up
behind only $5,000 winner Jason Feger.
Billy also landed on the podium on Tuesday, July 10 at Shadyhill
Speedway in Medaryville, Indiana. Following a second place run in
his heat race, Billy climbed past three competitors en route to
a third place feature effort behind only $5,000 victor Frank Heckenast,
Jr. and runner-up Rusty Schlenk. His hectic week concluded with
a pair of races at Oakshade Raceway in Wauseon, Ohio over the weekend.
Billy moved up to finish fifth in the $5,000 to win weekend opener
on Friday, July 13 at the Buckeye State oval, while he recorded
a ninth place performance in the $10,000 to win 'Birthday Race'
finale on Saturday, July 14. You can read a full race-by-race recap

The #21 BMR team will make the haul to I-80 Speedway in Greenwood,
Nebraska this weekend (July 19-21) for three straight days of dirt-slinging
action leading up to the 8th Annual 'Silver Dollar Nationals.' On
Thursday, the rain-postponed 'Malvern Bank Go 50' will take center
stage at I-80, as a $10,000 payday will be up for grabs. Double
preliminary heat races will then take place on Friday to help set
the starting grid for Saturday's $53,000 to win, 80-lap 'Silver
Dollar Nationals.' Billy has a career-best second place finish in
the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series biggie, as he finished behind
only winner Jonathan Davenport in 2016. Additional information concerning
