(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) Billy Moyer brought his famed #21 machine to the state-of-the-art Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway in Calvert City, Kentucky last weekend for the third annual '99.' Billy turned a good lap in Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series qualifying on Friday night, May 4 before finishing a strong second in his heat race to Don O'Neal. His effort in the preliminary event earned him the outside third row starting spot for the $24,999 to win A-Main on Saturday evening.

The driver known as "Mr. Smooth" was smooth once again in this year's version of the '99,' as he was a threat to win the entire 99-laps. Billy ran in the second position behind teammate Shannon Babb for a good portion of the race until a brace broke on his right front flap, which caused it to go under the tire and created a severe "push" in the car. After falling back to fifth because of his new-found problem, Billy adapted nicely and got back in the hunt for the lead and the win. However, he ran out of laps and crossed the checkered flag in the third spot behind winner Shannon Babb and runner-up Steve Francis. You can view complete results online at www.lucasdirt.com!

"It was a good run for us," quoted Moyer, who is the current Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point leader. "We ran second for a long time before that brace broke on the right front. Then after a restart, I pushed up pretty bad and fell back to fifth or so and I had to work my way back to the front of the field. I could definitely run with Shannon (Babb) and those guys, but we will take a strong third place finish."

The Billy Moyer Racing team will run a varied schedule this week, as they will compete in two events for sure… and maybe three. The World of Outlaws Late Model Series will sanction a $10,000 to win show tonight, May 9, on the 1/4-mile oval at the Davenport Speedway in Davenport, Iowa. The action will then turn to the pristine Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri on Friday and Saturday, May 11-12. The inaugural 'Superchips Diamond Nationals' will take place in Wheatland and a $25,000 top prize is up for grabs in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned event. If all goes well during the 'Diamond Nationals,' Billy then plans to enter a $7,000 to win World of Outlaws Late Model Series event on Sunday, May 13 at the Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, Illinois.
