(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) Billy Moyer traveled out west last weekend to compete in a trio of Western Allstars Series shows in Nevada and California. Even though he was not behind the wheel of his famed #21 machine, the results were much the same is if he were. The driver known as "Mr. Smooth" recorded his first feature victory in the young 2007 racing season on Saturday night, March 10 at the Bakersfield Speedway in Bakersfield, California. Driving one of Mike Johnson's Victory Circle chassis, Billy won his heat race and finished third in the dash to earn the inside second row starting spot for the $3,000 to win A-Main. The Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer was able to beat Steve Drake, car owner Mike Johnson, Bobby Hogge IV, and Richard Papenhausen to the checkered flag in the 30-lap event to record the $3,000 payday.

Earlier in the weekend, Billy was in action at the Dirt Track at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, Nevada for the 'BestChoiceProperties.com Las Vegas Dirt Classic.' On Thursday, March 8, Billy won his heat race and started on the pole for the $3,000 to win, 30-lap A-Main. He was running strong during the course of the A-Main before encountering some oil filter problems late in the feature, which relegated him to a disappointing twenty-third place finish. Things got much better at Vegas on Friday for Billy, as he once again won his heat race. After rolling off fourth for the $3,000 to win feature, Billy finished a strong third in the 30-lapper behind winner Jimmy Mars and runner-up Kelly Boen.

"It was a very successful weekend out west," explained Moyer earlier today. "I have to thank Mike Johnson for giving me a strong car and a good motor to race with in Vegas and Bakersfield. The racing wasn't the greatest out in Vegas, but we still had a great car both nights. Then at Bakersfield, I thought the racing was awesome there. It reminded me a lot of Farmer City, Illinois and I really enjoyed racing on a bullring like that. Even though we experienced a mechanical problem on Thursday night at Vegas, I still think the weekend was a great success. I think I was able to help out Mike (Johnson) with some set-up things and his driving technique, so hopefully it benefited both of us for me to make the trip out there."

The Billy Moyer Racing team will be back in action this coming weekend at the state-of-the-art Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway in Calvert City, Kentucky. The annual 'Early Bird Classic' will be held at KLMS and a $10,000 payday is up for grabs in the unsanctioned event. Qualifying, heat race action, the consolation events, and the 50-lap A-Main will all take place this Saturday, March 17 at the "Taj Mahal of Dirt Racing." Billy Moyer, Jr. will join his dad at the 3/8-mile, high-banked oval this weekend, as the duo will strive to bring home the $10,000 top prize back to Arkansas.
