MOYER
WINS AGAIN DOWN UNDER; UNVEILS SPEEDWEEKS PLANS
January
24, 2019 --- "Mr. Smooth"
Billy Moyer and Paul Stubber's team wrapped up the USA Invasion
Tour of Western Australia on January 18-19 in a pair of specials
at Collie Speedway and Bunbury Speedway. Following a solid fifth
place showing in the 40-lapper on Friday night at Collie, Billy
closed out the four-race miniseries with his second victory in the
finale on Saturday evening at Bunbury!
Billy knocked down the fourth fastest lap in time trials before
taking the win in his first heat race of the night and finishing
third in his second and final prelim. After starting the 40-lap
headliner from the pole position, Billy led early before regaining
the point from Tyler Erb shortly before the halfway mark. The Batesville,
Arkansas standout then beat Erb, Brad Blake, car owner Paul Stubber,
and Michael Holmes to the checkered flag to capture his 837th career
triumph. You can read a race-by-race recap from the Australia trip
by logging onto www.BillyMoyer.com.
Following the final race of the USA Invasion Tour, the Stubber's
committed the proceeds from the door and quarter panel auctions
to the Junior Development Program to encourage the Junior Sedan
drivers in Western Australia to transition to Late Models at the
age of 16 when they are no longer allowed to be classified as a
Junior. Palice Property Group also matched those funds dollar-for-dollar
and donated that money to Homestead for Youth (www.homesteadforyouth.org).
In addition, all prize money won by Billy during the four-race stretch
was donated to a well-respected children's charity.
"It was a fantastic trip and all the thanks in the world goes
to our hosts Paul and Alice Stubber," quoted Moyer upon returning
stateside this week. "They provided me with a fast racecar
right out of the box and we were able to put it into victory lane
a couple of times. I would have liked to have made a couple of different
setup decisions on the two nights we didn't win, but that is all
part of learning a new racecar. Now that I'm back from Australia,
I'm excited to announce that I will be driving for Tye Twarog Racing
for at least six races during Speedweeks in February. The deal with
Tye (Twarog) just came about here recently, but he has great equipment
and I'm really looking forward to competing again at East Bay and
Screven!"
Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer Billy Moyer will jump behind the
wheel of the blue/white Tye Twarog Racing #9 machine from February
4-9 at a pair of venues in the southern states of Florida and Georgia.
Billy will sling dirt four times with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt
Series during the 43rd Annual 'Winternationals' at East Bay Raceway
Park in Gibsonton, Florida on February 4-7 before the team travels
north to enter the annual 'Winter Freeze' at Screven Motor Speedway
in Sylvania, Georgia on February 8-9. A pair of $10,000 to win throwdowns
at Screven will lift the lid to the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings
Late Model Series campaign. More information on these Speedweeks
programs can be located online at www.lucasdirt.com
and www.woolms.com.
"It is quite an honor to have someone of Billy's stature running
our car and I can't wait until East Bay and Screven rolls around,"
exclaimed car owner Tye Twarog today via telephone. "It just
shows that we have some great equipment when someone like Billy
(Moyer) agrees to jump behind the wheel. He has a tremendous record
during Speedweeks, but especially at East Bay where he has like
27 career Winternationals victories. We already had plans to run
Devin Moran in one of our cars for the week at Volusia, but when
this deal came about with Billy, it was a no-brainer to go down
a week earlier and run six nights with him at East Bay and Screven!"
Billy Moyer has now amassed 837 victories during his storied career
and is the only six-time winner of the famous 'World 100' at Eldora
(OH) Speedway. The popular driver known as "Mr. Smooth"
is also a six-time DIRTcar Summer Nationals Champion and has accumulated
100 victories on the grueling series dubbed "The Hell Tour."
Billy, who also has three World of Outlaws Late Model Series titles
and a coveted Hav-A-Tampa Dirt Racing Series title on his ever-expanding
resume, has also reached victory lane in crown jewel spectaculars
such as the 'Dirt Late Model Dream' (2x), 'USA Nationals' (5x),
'Topless 100' (4x), 'Show-Me 100' (3x), 'Dirt Track World Championship'
(2x), and 'Knoxville Late Model Nationals.' The latest dirt on Billy
Moyer Racing (BMR) can be found all year long by clicking on www.BillyMoyer.com.
